Haman County is located at the center of Gyeongnam Province in the southeastern part of Korea and conserves a brilliant cultural heritage of 900 years of Ara Gaya Culture. It is adjacent to Changwon to the east, Masan to the south, Jinju to the west, and Euiryeong as well as Changnyeong to the north. The total land size of Haman accounts for 416.81§´, corresponding to 4.0% of whole land size of South Gyeongsang Province. Haman County stretches 29km from east to west and 26km from north to south. As of December, 2005, it has the population of 62,356 with 24,059 households and is composed of 1 town and 9 subcounties.

As it has Mt. Yeohangsan (770m) and Mt. Bangeosan (530m) to the south, it has a high south and low north geographical landscape. The river flows to the north and meet the Nakdong River and the Namgang River making fertile fields.

It is also convenient in transportation with the Namhae Expressway from east to west, the Guma Expressway from north to south, and the Gyeongjeon Train Line connecting the Gyeongnam Province and Jeolla Province. They make delivery of agricultural products convenient and put Haman in one-day life zone with neighboring big cities like Changwon, Jinju, and Masan.

With the enlargement of cultivation, Haman has drastically enhanced its farm income by exporting a variety of fresh agricultural products including watermelons and sweet pepper (paprika). Haman has also rapid growth in the industries since 1996 in Chilseo Industrial Complex and four other Agricultural & Industrial Complexes. Manufacturing construction metals and automobile parts is the major industries here. Around 800 small and medium-sized businesses are ardently operating at one local industrial complex and 8 agro-industrial complexes. As of December, 2005, the number of factories registered in Haman was 4,251 and the employees numbered 22,657. In 2006 alone, total trade amount in Haman recorded US$534Million with US$308Million in exports and US$226Million in imports.

Also, with its reputation of Mecca of Korean Woman¡¯s soccer as background, Haman will transform itself into the heart of Sports by building up Sports complex by 2009 including 3 soccer stadiums and tennis court. The center is a paradise in a city and the cradle of recreational sports that makes great contribution to the betterment of citizen¡¯s life.
